King, Stephenson Shine at P&G Championships

Indianapolis, Ind.—Incoming freshmen Jordan King and Anton Stephenson took second and fourth, respectively in the all-around at the 2015 P&G Championships junior men’s age 17-18 division at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Aug. 14-16.

King, a native of The Woodlands, Texas, opened day one of competition in the 17-18 division on Aug. 14 with an all-around score of 83.55, putting him in fourth place heading into the event and all-around finals on Sunday. His consistency continued on in the finals with an 83.10 all-around mark, securing the silver medal spot with a combined two-day total of 166.65. King also grabbed second place on floor (28.35), rings (28.30) and parallel bars (27.50), while tying for the pommel horse title with a 26.95 total.

Fishers, Ind., native Stephenson battled through some tough events on the first day of competition to sit in seventh place in the all-around with a 79.70 score going into the all-around and event finals. He picked back up in Sunday’s all-around competition with a big 84.25 mark, giving him a fourth place overall finish with a 163.95 combined total. Stephenson’s success continued on in the event finals, as he captured the parallel bars title with a 28.15 two-day score. He also grabbed a second-place finish on vault (29.25) and took third on floor (27.85).

King and Stephenson will join the Huskers this fall for the 2015-16 season, looking to make major contributions across all six events.
