Eugene, Ore. - The Nebraska track and field team wrapped up the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Hayward Field with the women's finals.
Senior Marusa Cernjul finished her Husker career with a tie-for-seventh showing in the high jump, scoring the first team points for the NU women. Cernjul cleared 5-11 1/4 (1.81m) on her first try, but couldn't get over 6-0 1/2 (1.84m). She earned first-team All-America honors for the first time in her career.
Ellie Ewere finished 11th in the triple jump after a season-best jump of 42-8 3/4 (13.02m) on her second attempt, but it wasn't quite enough to crack the top nine and advance to the finals. A first-team All-American last year, Ewere finished as a second-team All-American at both the indoor and outdoor championships as a senior, finishing ninth and 11th, respectively.
Junior Mollie Gribbin was right behind Ewere, finishing 12th after her second jump of 42-0 1/2 (12.81m). A 2014 honorable mention All-American in the long jump, Gribbin will add second-team All-America honors in the triple jump to her resume. Sophomore Danielle Jones finished 18th in the triple jump in her first nationals appearance. The Omaha native jumped 41-3 (12.57m) on her second attempt.
In the final team standings, the Husker men tied for 68th with two points on James White's seventh-place finish in the high jump. The Husker women scored 1.5 points on Cernjul's finish and tied for 66th.
