Freeman Leads Huskers on Final Day in Iowa

Iowa City, Iowa – Nebraska fired its best score (297) of the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational in Sunday’s final round to tie for 11th.

Senior Calvin Freeman led the Huskers with a 2-under-par 70 at Finkbine Golf Course, a par-72, 7,239-yard configuration. Freeman tied for 32nd individually at 5-over-par 221. As a team, NU posted an 896 total for the 54-hole tournament after rounds of 298 and 301 on Saturday.

Senior Ross Dickson managed a 37th-place finish after carding 1-over-par 73 in the final round. He produced a three-round total of 7-over-par 223 after shooting 72 and 78 on the first day. Dickson finished five strokes ahead of freshman Niko Vui, who tied for 49th. Vui paced his way to 76 on Sunday after 77 and 75 on Saturday.

Josh Reinertson and Aaron Wong each tied for 52nd with 229 strokes. Reinertson shot 78, while Wong carded 79 in Sunday’s final round.

The Huskers return to action next weekend at the Big Ten Championships at Victoria National in Newburgh, Ind.
