Nebraska Suffers Loss to No. 51 Penn State

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska men's tennis team saw Big Ten action on Friday against the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Huskers fought hard against the Lions but came up short, producing a 4-2 finish. Nebraska continues their season with a 10-12 record and 3-7 in the Big Ten. 

In doubles play, Dusty Boyer and Bradford Zitsch took on No.1 where they competed against Leonard Stakhovsky and Alex Fennell. The Nittany Lions took win going 8-5 over the Huskers. At No. 3, Charlie Shin and Marc Herrmann took on Aws Laaribi and Christian Lutschaunig. Laaribi and Lutschaunig grabbed the win at 8-4, giving Penn State the doubles point. Linus Erhart and Scott Elsass played Michael Reilly and Matt Barry where they did not finish their match. 

In singles play, Linus Erhart played at No. 2 where he played Alex Fennell. In the first set, Erhart put the hammer down, going 6-1 followed by 6-4 in the second. 

At No. 4, Andrew Dzulynsky suffered a loss against the Lion's Tomas Hanzlik where they went 6-4 in the first set followed by 6-2 putting the total tally at 2-1, Penn State in the lead. 

Finishing next, Scott Elsass competed against Nika Dolidaze where he too took a loss. The two went 6-2, 6-3 in tight play throughout each set at No. 6.

Dusty Boyer saw a win at No. 1 where he went 3-6 in the first set but took control in the second going 7-5 over No. 123 Leonard Stakhovsky. In the third set, Boyer showed off his talent and took the match going 6-1 in the final set.

Bradford Zitsch wrapped up the match at No. 5 against Roman Trkulja where he lost the first set 6-2 and then came back in the second going 2-6. In the final set, Zitsch battled through but saw a loss of 6-0 against Trkulja. This left Penn State with the 4-2 advantage and win of the match.

Marc Herrmann took on Matt Barry at No. 3 but the two did not finish their match.
