Reinertson Climbs Leaderboard on Final Day

Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Nebraska men’s golf team shot a final-round 297 on Saturday en route to a ninth-place finish at the Michigan Desert Mountain Intercollegiate.

The Huskers finished with a 913 tournament total at the Desert Mountain Club’s Outlaw Course, a par-72, 7,107-yard layout. On Friday, NU opened with 307 before posting a 309 in the second round.

Senior Josh Reinertson tied his best score at NU by firing a final-round 69. The Gibbon, Neb., native finished the team competition in a tie for 19th by producing a 54-hole 222 total after carding a 79 and 74 on Friday.

Calvin Freeman managed a tie for 32nd at 11-over-par 227. Freeman posted a 77 on Saturday after carding 78 and 72 in the first two rounds.

Senior Ross Dickson carded a final-round 4-over-par 76 on Saturday to put him in a tie for 45th after 76 and 81 on Friday. Dickson finished four strokes ahead of sophomore Justin Jennings. Jennings finished the day with an 81 after a 74 and 82 in the first two rounds to give him a 237 stroke total, placing him in a tie for 54th.

Mike Siwa posted his best score of the tournament in the final round by carding a 3-over 75. He finished tied for 60th after 85 and 83 on Friday. Freshman Ben Maschka played as an individual in the competition and finished with a 260 stroke total.

The Huskers travel to Goodyear, Ariz. to continue the spring campaign, March 19-21, at the Denver Desert Shootout at the Palm Valley Country Club.
