Judd Shatters Career Best in Arizona

Tucson, Ariz. - Freshman Audrey Judd shattered her previous career-best tournament score to help the Nebraska women's golf team to a 12th-place team finish in a 20-team field at the MountainView Collegiate on Saturday.

Cassie Deeg, a junior from Hugo, Minn., closed the 54-hole tournament as Nebraska's top individual finisher with a three-round total of 219 (74-70-75) on the par 72, 6,227-yard at the MountainView Golf Club. Deeg finished in a tie for 29th place.

She helped the Huskers close the tournament with a final-round 297 to finish with a season-best three-round score of 886.

Deeg was one of three Huskers to card a 75 on Saturday, joining freshmen Judd and Emily Gillman. Judd, who was competing in the Husker lineup for the first time this spring, tied for 45th with a career-best 222 (74-73-75), smashing her previous career-best by 11 strokes.

Gillman tied her career best with a 224 (75-74-75) to tie for 55th. 

Junior Morgan Smejkal, who fired Nebraska's best round of the day with an even-par 72, matched Gilman with a career-best-tying 224 for the tournament (77-75-72) to tie for 55th. Sophomore Jordan Chael was just one shot back in a tie for 59th at 225 (74-75-76).

Sophomore Sarah Pravecek posted a final-round 73 to tie Judd for 45th with a career-best 222 (75-74-73) while playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup. Junior Cassidy Stelzmiller rounded out the Nebraska contingent with a 232 (80-76-76).

Ohio State claimed the team title with an eight-under-par team total of 856. Florida International finished five shots back in second place at 861, while Purdue tied Kansas State for third at 864.

FIU's Meghan MacLaren earned medalist honors with a seven-under-par total of 209 over 54 holes. She held off Iowa State's Chonlada Chayanun and Purdue's Anna Appert, who both finished one shot back at 210.

Nebraska returns to action at the SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational, April 10-11.
