Wichita, Kan. - A seven-run fourth inning powered the Nebraska softball team to a 12-2 five-inning victory over South Dakota on Sunday at the Shocker Invitational in Wichita, Kan.

The win was the Huskers' fifth run-rule victory of the season, while Nebraska improved to 8-10 on the season. NU pounded out 12 hits in the win, while also drawing seven walks and being hit by a pair of pitches.

Nebraska found several ways to score against the Coyotes. Three of the runs came via sacrifice flies, while the Huskers also stole home and got a three-run home run from senior Steph Pasquale.

Pasquale finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore Cassie McClure was also perfect at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and a pair of RBIs. Sophomore MJ Knighten also produced a perfect day with a 2-for-2 effort that included a pair of walks and two run. Juniors Mattie Fowler and Dawna Tyson each went 1-for-1 with Tyson drawing a pair of walks and driving in one and Fowler producing two RBIs, one walk, one sacrifice bunt and one sacrifice fly.

In the circle, McClure tossed her second career complete game to improve to 4-2 on the year. In 5.0 innings, McClure allowed only one earned run.

Rachel Cue (3-5) took the loss for South Dakota, which fell to 4-9-1 on the season.

Nebraska jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by manufacturing a run in the top of the first inning. Junior Kiki Stokes was hit by a pitch to begin the game, and she promptly stole second. After advancing to third on an illegal pitch, Stokes score the game's first run on a sacrifice fly from McClure.

In the top of the third, Nebraska loaded the bases with no outs as McClure led off with a single before Pasquale was hit by a pitch and Knighten walked. Following a fly out, Tyson drew her second walk of the game to score sophomore pinch runner Lotte Sjulin and give Nebraska a 2-0 lead. Fowler stretched the lead to 3-0 with another sac fly, before Knighten stole home after Tyson was intentionally caught in a rundown between first and second.

The Huskers then exploded for seven runs in the top of the fourth to take an 11-0 lead. Stokes walked to begin the inning before junior Alicia Armstrong singled. McClure then lined an RBI single to left that scored Stokes to stretch the lead to 5-0. McClure's RBI single was followed by a towering three-run homer to center from Pasquale.

Leading 8-0, Knighten and Tyson each singled before Fowler produced an RBI to score Knighten. Freshman Laura Barrow followed with an RBI double down the left field line that scored freshman pinch runner Gina Metzler. The final run of the inning came courtesy of a Stokes sacrifice fly that scored sophomore pinch runner Rachel Arthur.

A Husker error helped South Dakota get one run back in the bottom of the fifth before Nebraska's second double play of the game wrapped up the victory.

Nebraska wraps up its weekend in Wichita by facing Wichita State in its final game.
