King Advances to Winter Cup Finals

Las Vegas, Nev.—Freshman Kyle King finished with a total of 16 points after his four-event performance in the preliminaries at the Winter Cup Thursday afternoon, grabbing a spot into the finals on Saturday.

King began the first session of competition on pommel horse, where he persevered to a 12.55 for his effort. On vault, he put up an impressive near-stuck 15.10 to lead the competition for the first session. Next King moved to parallel bars and notched a 13.70 for his effort. The freshman concluded the meet on floor where he powered to a 14.05 with minor steps and hops.

After the conclusion of the both sessions, King placed sixth overall on vault and was awarded 15 points. The Mesquite, Texas native, also tied for 20th place on floor, capturing the last available point and securing his spot in the Winter Cup Finals.

The final day of competition begins tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m. PT in Las Vegas, Nev., where King will begin on parallel bars. Live coverage and stats of the meet can be found at www.wintercup.com.
