Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska women's tennis team (7-0) captured a 6-1 win over Wyoming (3-4) Friday, Feb. 20 at the Lincoln Racquet Club, remaining undefeated on the season. The Huskers grabbed two doubles wins before rounding out the match in singles.
The Big Red gained an early lead over Wyoming as Maggy Lehmicke and Lisa Andersson picked up a 6-3 win over Christa Gecheva and Alma Espinosa at the No. 2 spot. The Cowgirls tied it up with a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot as Dorottya Jonas and Silviva Zhelyazkova defeated Mackenna Maddox and Katerina Matysova.
Izabella Zgierska and Mary Hanna teamed up to secure the doubles point for NU as they clenched a 7-6 (0) win over Magdelena Stencel and Jessica Parizher.
With singles action underway, Zgierska got NU's momentum rolling as she nabbed a 6-3, 7-6 (6) win over Wyoming's Nastya Tokareva at the No. 2 spot while Shivalingaiah outplayed Zhelyazkova with a pair of 6-4 sets at the No. 4 spot, pushing her record to 7-0.
At the No. 3 spot, Hanna battled through three sets to come away with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Jonas while Andersson grabbed a 6-3, 7-5 win over Parizher at the No. 5 spot.
The Huskers ended the day with another singles victory as Matysova picked up a 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 win over Gecheva at the No. 6 spot.
