Redshirt Recap: McCrystal, Johnson Capture Elite Titles in Kearney

Kearney, Neb. – Sophomore Colton McCrystal (141) and senior Spencer Johnson (197) each won Elite Division titles, while freshman Dustin Williams (165) won an Amateur Division crown at the Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open on Saturday, Nov. 22.

McCrystal won all four of his matches by either pin or technical fall, earning two of each. Johnson earned one fall, while notching two decisions before winning by medical forfeit in the first-place bout. Williams opened with two pins before winning by decision, medical forfeit and tiebreaker in his final three matches.

Freshman Tyler Berger, wrestling unattached, finished third at 149 pounds in the Elite Division. Eric Coufal (Elite 133), Tyrell Galloway (Elite 149), Darrian Schwenke (Amateur 133), Brian Peska (Amateur 133), Aris Shino (Amateur 133), Austin Chauncey (Amateur 157) and Jake Anderson (Amateur 197) also competed for the Huskers at the Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open.
