The Nebraska rifle team prepares to compete against two top 10 teams this weekend. The Huskers will spend Saturday and Sunday in Alaska facing No. 2 Kentucky and No. 7 Alaska-Fairbanks.
The Huskers still hold the fifth spot on the Top 20 poll and will be looking to go 2-0 this weekend, which would include an upset against second-ranked Kentucky.
“This weekend we are facing two very good teams who have had success this year,” Coach Ashley Rose-MacAllister said. “Going in, we realize that we are going to have to bring our A game, but it is nothing that we cannot overcome.”
Nebraska has won its last six matches, bringing the its overall record to 6-1. The team’s last pair of victories came on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 in Memphis, Tenn. The Big Red defeated Memphis and Ohio State by more than 40 points each.
This weekend marks the end of the Huskers’ fall season, and the team hopes to end with a bang.
“[The girls] have done a wonderful job this year of staying within themselves only worrying about what they can control, and the results have been exactly what we have wanted them to be,” Rose-MacAllister said. “I have full confidence that our team is going to give both Kentucky and Alaska a run for their money.”
