Lincoln - The Nebraska women's basketball program will show its support of our nation's military and veterans when the Huskers take on Utah at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Sunday, Nov. 23.
Tip-off between the Big Red and the Utes is set for 1 p.m., and all current military members and veterans (and one guest) with valid military/veteran identification can receive free general admission seating for the game at the Devaney Center.
All veteran tickets and members of the Wounded Warrior project should be requested through vettix.org. Those tickets can be picked up on game day at the North Will-Call window at the Devaney Center.
Active duty military members can request up to two complimentary tickets in person at the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office at 10th Street & Stadium Drive, Nov. 19-21 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. A valid military I.D. must be presented at the Ticket Office. The free ticket offer is not valid the day of the game.
In addition to honoring the nation's military and veterans, the Huskers will honor Nebraska's 1988 Big Eight championship team throughout the day at the Devaney Center.
Ten members of the Huskers' 22-7 squad that became Nebraska's first NCAA Tournament team after going 11-3 in Big Eight regular-season play, will be on hand as the Big Red return to the Devaney Center for the first time since moving to Pinnacle Bank Arena in 2013-14.
Former Huskers expected to be on hand Sunday include Nebraska legend and 1988 Big Eight Player of the Year Maurtice Ivy, first-team All-Big Eight guard and current NU assistant coach Amy Stephens, CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Stephanie Bolli and Ann Halsne, Kim Harris, Sabrina Brooks, Amy Bullock, Pam Fiene, Deb Hoffman, Melissa Sanford and assistant coach Theresa Becker. Former Nebraska head coach Angela Beck will also deliver a special video message.
The 1987-88 Huskers will be recognized in both pre-game and halftime ceremonies, and the 2014-15 Huskers will pay tribute to the team by wearing replica uniforms.
The 1987-88 white uniforms featured a script "Nebraska" across the front with a small number on the front right. The shorts featured the outline of the state of Nebraska with a script "Huskers" written inside, along with a star on Lincoln.
The Big Eight champion Huskers honored military members on the cover of their 1987-88 media guide with the coaching staff wearing dress uniforms and the players wearing fatigues while position next to a plane at the Nebraska National Guard. The plane's name was "Sentimental Journey."
Tickets for the Utah game are available to all Husker fans right now at Huskers.com or by calling 800-8-BIG-RED. Reserved seats are just $7.
