Redshirt Recap: White Finishes Second in Iowa

Ames, Iowa – Freshman Derek White led five Huskers at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open on Saturday, Nov. 8 with his runner-up finish at 197 pounds.

Wrestling unattached, White cruised to a major decision in his first match before back-to-back decisions to earn a spot in the finals. He was pinned by defending national champion J’Den Cox of Missouri in 3:58.

At 149 pounds, junior Tyrell Galloway turned in a sixth-place finish. He won his first four matches to advance to the semifinals before falling to Larry Bomstad of St. Cloud State.
