Corey Cooper Quotes
On if he tries to keep the quarterback under a certain number of completed passes
“Not really. You just try to keep guys from completing any passes. There isn’t a certain number we set. There’s not a certain number we strive for, we just try to play good defense.”
On what makes the defense tough for opposing quarterbacks
“The D line did a good job of keeping guys uncomfortable. We play a lot of man, so it’s the type of windows the quarterback is going to throw to. So I think that has a lot to do with it.”
On how hungry Nebraska is as a team to put a four-quarter game together
"Yeah that was one of those going into Rutgers was putting together a complete game. We failed to do so even though we came out with a win. But like you said, Coach Bo (Pelini) did kind of call guys out. But we have a standard and we didn’t meet it. This week is our chance to do so and it starts tomorrow in practice.”
On what sticks out about Coach Charlton Warren and what he brings to the table
“He is a very good teacher. He hasn’t been here very long but he prepares a standard for the defense and he’s good at teaching it as well. He’s a very smart coach. He’s really into the small details and really strict about those things. He’s a good coach, so far so good.”
On what he sees from Purdue on the field
“Purdue is a great team. They're better than their records show. They’ve been in every game they’ve played even against some great teams. This isn’t a game we can afford to take lightly. They’re going to give us their best shot, so we’ve got to be ready to go.”
On the way Purdue uses its running backs
“They have some very fast running backs. They have unique ways of getting the guys the ball in space. They’re very creative on offense. Very complex. They do a lot of different things. It will be a challenge this week, but I think we’ll be ready for it.”
