Nebraska vs. Rutgers
Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014
Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, Neb.)
Redshirt Freshman Quarterback Chris Laviano
On how he reacted when Gerry Nova went down
"I was getting ready and I was prepared all week to get my number called so I just tried to contribute my part and lead the team."
On if Nova tried to come back/what he was thinking during that time
"I wasn't thinking about it, I am always getting ready whether it is the first quarter, second quarter, second half, I am always trying to prepare myself to go out there."
On how he played in the second half
"I could have done more with some of the drives. I tried to execute every play as best as I could, that is pretty much it."
On if this game was good experience
"We lost, so I think there was a little bit more I could have done to contribute to the offense on certain drives. We can't kick field goals we have to score touchdowns. Especially when we were down in the second half, we had to come out with a lot of fire. I just need to work on some things in order to play better and give the team the spark it needs."
On if he tried to calm the team down after Nova went down
"Yeah I mean I tried to pump them up but all week I am preparing like I am the starter so it is not like we don't know each other or have faith in me. I have personal relationships with all those guys."
Senior Defensive End David Milewski
On where this team goes from here
"This is not the end all be all, yeah we wish we were more successful today but you have to regroup, comeback tomorrow and have a great attitude. We need to comeback Tuesday and be ready to practice throughout the week, and be ready at gametime.
On Ameer Abdullah
"He is very good. Very good. All around, he did everything, caught the ball, ran the ball and returned the ball. I think he is good as advertised.
On why Abdullah exploded
"I think he does a great job of getting through the first level, he has a great burst through the hole in the line. If you are able to slow him down before he gets to that point, then you can do a good job holding him up. If he finds a gap and is able to put his foot into the ground, and just goes through that gap faster than most running backs. He has the ability to do a quick cut and get vertical very quickly."
Comparing Ohio State and Nebraska
"Both are very good teams, both execute at a high level. Both atmospheres were incredible, the fans were very passionate."
On playing at Ohio State, then Nebraska, what was it like
"I enjoyed it, if you play college football you want to play in front of sold out crowds and have a lot of fun. You definitely feel the emotion when you come to a place like this, even when we play at home and get a packed crowd it is similar. Playing in front of a sellout crowd is a lot of fun, whether you are home or away."
