Iowa City, Iowa- Sophomore Anna Filipcic dove her way to victory in the one-meter dive in the regular-season opener double dual meet against Iowa and Michigan. The Huskers' second-best finish of the day came from the 100-yard freestyle relay team of Taryn Collura, Bria Deveaux, Rebekah Land and Alexandra Bilunas. The squad swam to a second-place time of 43.52, just .57 seconds shy of the first-place Michigan team.
In the first event of the evening the Nebraska 400-yard medley relay team earned a ninth-place finish. The squad of Erin Oeltjen, Krista Van Wie, Julia Roller and Land swam to a time of 4:01.72.
In the lone individual swimming event of the evening, Nebraska's Katt Sickle finished in eighth-place (10:34.44) in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Husker swimmers Cassandra Brassard (10:50.70), Aimee Fischer (10:57.89) and Michaela Cunningham (11:18.30) earned 10th, 11th and 12th places respectively in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
In the third event of the night the Huskers' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Bilunas, Kelly Dunn, Jordan Ehly and Natalie Morris captured a sixth-place finish (1:38.01). The 400-yard individual medley relay team of Ehly, Collura, Dunn and Morris earned fifth-place (4:00.03), finishing less than a half a second behind the fourth-place team from Michigan.
The Huskers' 100-yard medley relay team earned a fourth-place finish. The team of Jacqueline Juffer, Ehly, Deveaux and Bilunas swam a time of 49.15 to finish out Friday's events.
