Tulsa, Okla. - Dusty Boyer posted a first-round win over Ohio State's Herkko Pollanen in qualifying singles to advance at the ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Monday.
The junior from Ham Lake, Minn., rolled to a 6-2, 7-6 win over the Buckeyes' Pollanen to advance to Tuesday's second-round qualifying match to take on UTSA's Tomas Stillman. Boyer's match with Stillman was set to start at 11:30 a.m.
Over the weekend, fellow Husker juniors Marc Herrmann and Andrew Dzulynsky competed in pre-qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships. Herrmann dropped a 7-6, 2-6, 1-6 decision to Patrick Mayer from Memphis on Saturday, before adding a consolation win over Purdue's Diego Acosta, 7-6, 7-5 on Sunday.
Dzulysnsky suffered a 2-6, 3-6 setback to Northwestern's Logan Staggs, before dropping his consolation bracket match 6-7, 6-7, 3-6 to San Diego's Filip Vittek on Sunday.
