Nebraska vs. Miami
Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014
Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, Neb.)
Sophomore Offensive Lineman Taylor Gadbois
On how he performed against Randy Gregory
"He got me one time. He's a very good player. He's real quick, has good hands, he's strong. I was trying to raise my game to what he was doing. I tried to play the best I could."
On the mindset of Miami after the loss
"Well right now we are hurt. But we are going right to Duke. We are going to start hammering away at that game. Go back home and get ready for the Blue Devils."
On the offensive line's improvement
"You know we played better but the ending wasn't what we wanted. We will go back to the drawing board and continue to get better."
Junior Running back Duke Johnson
On his fumble
"I needed to get in the end zone, but I need to protect the ball when I'm going down. That was my bad. I should have made sure I made it to the ground. That play changed the game in a big way."
On the feeling in the locker room after the game
"We was hurt but at the same time we were excited. We had our chances in this game, but we had a lot of turnovers. We had two turnovers in a row. That's hard to come back from. Turning the ball over three times is hard to come back from."
Senior Linebacker Thurston Armbrister
On the challenges they faced out there
"That was a very tough team, especially up front. They have a big offensive line. No. 8 (Ameer Abdullah) he was a great back. We just didn't execute the game plan."
On Ameer Abdullah in person
"He's every bit of what he was on film. We knew he was a good back. We knew what we had to do to stop him. We just didn't execute how we wanted to."
On what made Ameer Abdullah tough
"He's a cut-back runner. We had to take away the cutback and wrap up on contact. We missed a lot of tackles. That's where he excels - in missed tackles and extra yards after contact. We didn't capitalize on what we were supposed to do."
Freshman Quarterback Brad Kaaya
On his experience tonight
"As an offense we did a good job of blocking out all of the noise and not just listening to what the fans were saying."
On his offensive line standing up for him
"I always know my offensive line has back no matter what. That's the whole offense and defense. When things start coming down we have to have each other. That's our mentality. Even though we got flagged for that, they were standing up for me."
On his preparation for the game
"We were trying to take advantage of their linebackers. We knew their front seven was going to be aggressive. We knew we needed to use our playmakers. Clive (Walford) caused a big mismatch for them."
