Huskers' Stay ends at Mizzou Invite

Kansas City, Mo.- The Mizzou Invite ended Sunday with the Nebraska women’s tennis team facing Columbia University in doubles in the morning and then Mississippi State in singles following. Sophomore Lisa Andersson sealed NU's lone singles victory which earned her fourth place behind Mississippi State's ITA pre-season ranked No. 42 Georgiana Patrasc, Mizzou's Beatriz Machado Santos and Alex Clark.

The Huskers began the day facing No. 39 ITA pre-season ranked Columbia University in doubles. Mary Hanna and Izabella Zgierska sealed a victory over Solovyev and Milstein 8-2. Lehmicke and Shivalingaiah fell to Vaidya and Asatrian 8-2. Maddox and Wagner teamed up to face Cheng and Li but fell short 8-6 as Leung and MacMullin defeated Andersson and Matysova 8-1.

Nebraska ended the day with singles against Mississippi State. Lisa Andersson captured the lone NU victory over Timea Guibe 6-2, 2-6, 6-1. Naomi Tran defeated Wagner 6-1, 6-0 as fellow Bulldog Alexandra Corder defeated Matysova 6-1, 6-3. Maddox fell to Jennifer Brown 6-3, 6-4, while Georgiana Patrasc ousted Lehmicke 6-1, 6-4. NU’s Hanna battled through three sets but was defeated by Louise Ronaldson 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

The next scheduled event for the Huskers is the ITA Central Region Championships in Stillwater, Okla. from Thursday, Oct. 16 through Monday, Oct. 20. Results and the recap for that event will be available here on Huskers.com.
