Independence, Minn. – The Nebraska men’s golf team is in 11th place at the Gopher Invitational after shooting 608 over two rounds at Windsong Farm Golf Club on Sunday.
The Huskers opened with 303 at the par-71, 7,152-yard layout before posting a second-round 305. Baylor leads the team competition heading into the final round after producing a 572 total on the first day.
Senior Calvin Freeman led NU on Sunday by carding 7-over-par 149 over 36 holes. Freeman, a Table Rock, Neb., native, fired 2-over-par 73 in the first round before shooting 5-over-par 76 in the second round. He is tied for 25th entering the final round of the Gopher Invitational.
Mike Siwa is tied for 27th after 36 holes in Minnesota and fired NU’s best individual 18-hole score of the day with his second-round 72. The senior from Omaha, Neb., added a first-round 78 and sits one shot behind Freeman at 8-over-par 150.
Ross Dickson opened his senior campaign with 78 before posting 77 in the afternoon. His 155 total after two rounds puts him in a tie for 46th. He is one stroke ahead of Josh Reinertson, who shot 74 and 82 on Sunday. Reinertson is tied for 50th.
Sophomore Justin Jennings is tied for 68th after managing scores of 83 and 80 on the first day of action.
The Huskers tee off on Hole No. 10 on Monday starting at 7:45 a.m. Nebraska will be paired with Notre Dame and Central Arkansas for the final round at Windsong Farm Golf Club. Live scoring for the tournament is available on BirdieFire.com.
