Sophomore Walter Pitchford has been a key component of Nebraska's early-season success in 2013-14. The 6-foot-10 forward is averaging 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game heading into the Huskers' game with The Citadel. He also ranks among the Big Ten's top three-point shooters (44 percent).

Pitchford, who began his collegiate career at Florida before transferring to Nebraska, recorded his first collegiate double-double against Arkansas State on Dec. 14 with 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Pitchford, who has been on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both of his semesters in Lincoln, took a break from Finals Week and practice to answer a few questions.

What you would do with a time machine: I would go back to when I was a little child when by grandfather passed away. His name was Robert P. Stanton, but we called him Appleman, and I would have picked his brain to know more about him and his knowledge.

Superpower you wish you had: I already have flight, so I would say super speed.

Pregame rituals: I take about 15 minute to pray and get what is on my mind sent up to God.

Best friend on the team: Mike Peltz

Best athlete you've competed against: There are so many to choose from. Brandon Jennings from when I was at Oak Hill, Bradley Beal. who was my teammate at Florida and Ray McCallum, who was an AAU teammate in Detroit.

Why you chose Nebraska: Coach Miles. I had an understanding and wanting to change the history for basketball here and bring it back to where it was in the 1990's.

Best thing about Nebraska: Everyone here treats you like you are one of their own. That is the biggest part of it, especially for someone who was not from around here.

Best Christmas Movie: The Grinch who Stole Christmas.
