Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska mens tennis team (1-2) returns to the Nebraska Tennis Center this weekend to face No. 41 Drake (5-1), No. 30 VCU (6-1), and Creighton (1-0). Nebraska takes on No. 43 Drake on Friday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m., No. 31 VCU Sunday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m., and finishes off the challenging weekend with Creighton at 6 p.m.
The Huskers knocked off Illinois State last Friday for their first win of the fall season. They were not able to finish as strong in their second match against Oklahoma State, falling 4-3 to the Cowboys.
Tom Blackwell continues to lead the Huskers 3-0 at the No. 5 singles position. Eric Sock pulled out two victories for the Huskers last weekend. .
The Huskers have struggled in doubles play, losing the doubles point to Illinois State and Oklahoma State.
Nebraska in the National Rankings
Nebraska began the spring season at No. 74 in the ITA Divison I Men's Tennis Rankings. After falling at No. 36 Louisville, the Huskers slipped out of the top 75. The Huskers were ranked in the top 75 throughout the 2012 season, climbing as high as No. 38.
Looking Ahead
The Huskers will be back on the road following this weekends play, traveling to Johnson City Tennessee to battle No. 74 East Tennessee State and No. 60 Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 16.
