San Antonio, Texas - The Nebraska women's golf team concluded its 2012 fall season with a 14th-place finish at the Alamo Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
Nebraska produced its best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 302 to finish with a three-round score of 924.
Steffi Neisen posted Nebraska's top finish by tying for 47th in the 78-player field. The junior from New Prague, Minn., managed rounds of 75, 75 and 77 to close the 54-hole tournament at 227.
Freshman Cassie Deeg added a tie for 58th with a 232, including a final-round 76 on Tuesday. Junior Katelyn Wright added her best round of the tournament with a 75 on Tuesday to tie for 59th at 233.
Redshirt freshman Jackie O'Doherty produced Nebraska's best individual round of the tournament with a final-round 74 on the par-72, 6,432-yard layout at the Briggs Ranch Golf Course. O'Doherty finished in a tie for 74th at 246 with fellow Husker redshirt freshman Morgan Smejkal.
Oklahoma ran away with the team title with a 16-under-par three-round score of 848, which included a final-round 285. Texas A&M finished eight shots back of the Sooners at 856, while matching OU's final round. The hosts from UTSA tied for third with Tulane, 15 strokes behind Oklahoma at 863.
Tulane's Maribel Lopez Porras claimed medalist honors with a seven-under-par 209, including a final-round 69. Baylor's Lauren Taylor finished second at 211, while Oklahoma's Kaitlyn Rohrback and Taylor Schmidt tied for third at 212.
Nebraska opens its spring season at the Lady Puerto Rico Invitational, Feb. 10-12, in Rio Mar, P.R.
