No. 22 Michigan Survives in Double Overtime

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Nebraska soccer team (5-7-1, 2-3-0 Big Ten) dropped a tough 2-1 double-overtime decision on Sunday afternoon at U-M Soccer Stadium to the No. 22 Michigan Wolverines (10-2-1, 4-0-1).

With the two teams tied at 1-1 following 100 minutes of play, UM's Nkem Ezurike buried the game winner only 37 seconds into the second overtime period to keep the Wolverines undefeated in Big Ten play.

Michigan held a slight 22-16 advantage in shots on the afternoon, but Nebraska made the most of its 16 attempts, as nine were on goal.

It was a defensive battle for the first 70 minutes of the game, until Chloe Sosenko scored her first goal of the season at 71:14 following a corner kick to open the scoring.

It didn't take long for Nebraska to answer, as Mayme Conroy put in her team-leading eighth goal of the season less than a minute later at 71:55 to tie the game.

A product of Omaha Skutt High School, Conroy has scored a goal in each of Nebraska's last four games and has one goal in all five of NU's Big Ten games this season.

Each team notched one shot in the first overtime, but was unable to score, setting the table for Ezurike's game winner in double overtime.

The Huskers head back on the road next Friday, when they travel to Madison, Wis., for a 7 p.m. game with Wisconsin Badgers. Friday's game will be the Huskers' only game of the weekend.
