Chip-N Club Members,
A big thank you to the Chip-N Club for once again putting on two outstanding events - our annual fundraiser golf tournament at Wilderness Ridge, and our only home meet of the year, the 13-team Chip-N Club Invitational at the Country Club of Lincoln. You all did a wonderful job making both events special.
Thanks also to all of the volunteers, participants, and the golf courses - Wilderness Ridge and The Country Club of Lincoln. We really appreciate the support.
The team opened the season by finishing seventh in the Chip-N Club. We learned a lot about ourselves - both our strengths and our weaknesses. Fortunately we have over a week to try to improve and really focus on the areas that need the most attention.
We know what to work on and the team is committed to improving mentally, physically and competitively. Freshman Morgan Smejkal has made big strides since last season. I loved her competitiveness on the course on her way to a 21st-place finish in her first collegiate tournament. Junior Katelyn Wright also showed improvement and tied for 11th.
We are young and we will improve with experience. With a nine-player roster of seven freshmen and two juniors, I'm looking forward to watching this team improve this year and beyond.
Go Big Red!
