On the mood of the
team
“Obviously we let that game slip away, and we all know an inch here and there
could have changed the outcome. I am looking forward to see how this team
responds, we have put ourselves through adversity in offseason training. I am
looking forward to see how we respond.”
On if there is any
special meetings for the players with player leaders
“I
think a lot of it was an unsaid moment, especially after the game. The look in
each other’s eyes, is that we are not going to give up on each other, that was
a minor setback, and just like Coach Bo said, that was just a minor setback. Everything
we want to accomplish is still out there. We are going to learn as much as we
can so that does not happen again. Like I said, everything we want is still out
there for us to get.”
On offseason examples
of adversity that will help the team out
“Paying
attention to the little things. We talk about detail by preparation, and little
things like conditioning that we do with Coach Dobson, like not having your
hand on the line or not finishing on a run or play. Just knowing everyone is
held accountable and that is what we learned. When those things happen, how do
you respond, and for some of us we have learned how to respond and get better
from that. It is really going to help us out moving forward after the loss.”
On the field position
and if that wears on the offense
“We
don’t point the finger at that, when we get the ball, our responsibility is to
move the ball and change the field position, and ultimately score the ball. We
put our defense in a lot of bad positions with turnovers and we didn’t keep
them off the field so they could re-hydrate and refresh themselves. It was a
team loss, we all had our mistakes and we didn’t play to the level we needed
to, but I am glad to say there is no finger pointing on this football team.”
On if the team is
angry
“Yeah
we have a real bad taste in our mouths.”
On the life of a
student-athlete, especially after a loss like that
“Sometimes
you may hear conversations, but most of the time we have a great student-body
and they know we are doing everything we can to perform our best on Saturday. I
have never had any bad incidents that have led to any confrontations. I love
our student-body, we have the best fans in the country, and one of the best
student sections in the country.”
