Nebraska senior Mary Weatherholt teamed with Indiana's Alicia Kauss to capture the doubles title at the 2012 ITA Summer Circuit event at the University of Kansas, July 20-22.
Weatherholt, who captured 2012 Big Ten Player-of-the-Year honors before earning a trip to the NCAA Women's Singles Championships, joined Kauss in posting a perfect 3-0 record in the main draw of the tournament.
After receiving an opening-round bye, Weatherholt and Kauss blitzed to an 8-0 win over Augustana's Elizabeth Lewis and Kansas State's Miranda Erisman in the second round. Weatherholt/Kauss cruised to an 8-2 victory over Colorado's Ashley Tiefel and George Washington's Stephanie Wei in the semifinals, before rolling to an 8-3 win over Kansas' Dylan Windom and Illinois-Chicago's Haley Craig in the championship match.
