Huskers Finish with 14 Event Titles at Nebraska Invitational

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska track and field team closed the outdoor regular season on Saturday with the Nebraska Invitational at Ed Weir Stadium. The Huskers took home 14 titles on the day.

Victoria Zimmerman won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 192-3 (58.61), tying her season-best throw. Jade Siegel then came in third with a season-best throw of 189-7 (57.79). Carter Wasem finished second in the men's hammer throw, recording a personal-best mark of 188-5 (57.42). Matt Giesselmann finished fifth with a throw of 174-4 (53.14), while Jacob Griess took sixth with a personal-best mark of 173-9 (52.96).

The Husker women went on to sweep the top three sports in the women's shot put. Carlie Pinkelman took the event title with a personal-best throw of 52-1 3/4 (15.89), while Veronica Grizzle was second with a throw of 51-0 3/4 (15.56) and Annie Jackson finished third with a mark of 50-9 1/4 (15.47). Taylor Shapland finished second in the men's shot put with a throw of 51-10 (15.80). A week after winning the event at the Drake Relays, Morgan Wilken won the women's discus with a throw of 170-5 (51.94).

Mara Griva took home the women's long jump title with a season-best leap of 20-8 (6.30). Kara Mostoller finished fourth with a jump of 19-0 1/2 (5.80). Anna Weigandt won the women's triple jump with a leap of 42-4 (12.90). Ellie Ewere posted a third-place finish with a personal-best leap of 40-9 (12.42).

Patrick Raedler won the men's triple jump with a personal-best leap of 52-4 1/2 (15.96). Chris Phipps finished second with a jump of 51-1 1/2 (15.58) and Bobby Carter took third with a personal-best mark of 50-2 1/2 (15.30). Rashad Moxey finished with a personal-best jump of 48-1 1/4 (14.66), and Corey Winston posted a leap of 46-11 (14.30).

In the women's 100 meters, Mara Weekes finished first with a personal-best time of 11.57, as Breunna McCarty took fifth with a time of 12.06. Tim Thompson finished third in the men's 100 meters with a personal-best time of 10.38. Dexter McKenzie recorded a fifth-place finish with a personal-best time of 10.41, and John Welk posted a personal-best time of 10.69 for sixth.

Weekes won the women's 200 meters with a personal-best wind-aided time of 23.66. Anne Martin recorded a personal-best time of 25.85, while Jordan Stiens finished with a personal-best wind-aided time of 25.86. John Welk took the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.39 (windy).

Jelena Anjelkovic finished second in the women's 400 meters with a season-best time of 56.76. Monique Lewis took third with a personal-best time of 57.02. Jodi-Rae Blackwood finished third in the men's 400 meters with a personal-best time of 47.92, while London Hawk finished fourth with a season-best time of 48.26.

Blaire Dinsdale won the women's 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:06.87, while Erica Hamik took second with a time of 2:09.00. Brooke Dinsdale posted a mark of 2:09.20, while Ellen Dougherty finished fourth with a season-best mark of 2:10.09. Sidney Madlock posted a personal-best time of 1:53.11 in the men's 800 meters.

Katie White won the women's 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:35.52, while Sarah Plambeck finished third with a personal-best time of 4:41.67. On the men's side, Trevor Vidlak won the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:56.63. Connor Gibson posted a time of 9:19.37 in the men's steeplechase for first.

Mila Andric and Greta Kerekes finished first and second, respectively, in the women's 100 meter hurdles. Andric posted a time of 13.91, while Kerekes finished with a time of 14.25. Miles Ukaoma finished third in the men's 110 meter hurdles with a personal-best mark of 14.07. Walford posted a personal-best time of 14.75 for sixth. Unattached athlete Jeffrey Julmis broke the stadium record with a time of 13.55.

Andric took the 400 meter hurdle title with a season-best time of 59.19. Ellie Grooters also recorded a season-best time with a mark of 59.91 for second.

The women's relay team of McCarty, Weekes, Kerekes and Lewis won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 46.41. The men's team of Thompson, McKenzie, Carter and Phipps finished second behind Kansas State with a time of 40.47.
