I had the opportunity to take a tour on Wednesday, April 11, of the construction site that will eventually be the new competitive home of Nebraska women's basketball.
Coach Connie Yori, Associate Head Coach Sunny Smallwood, Assistant Coach Kellie Lewis-Jay and several other members of the Nebraska men's and women's basketball staffs and athletic administration walked through some parts of the rapidly rising Pinnacle Bank Arena late Wednesday afternoon.
With the amazing winter and spring weather we've had in Lincoln, the arena project in the Haymarket area of downtown is running full steam ahead. We were even able to climb to the third level of the building and look out onto what will be Nebraska's home court of the future.
Looking out into the future bowl of the arena and visualizing where the court, bench areas, entrances and huge video screens will be was an exciting opportunity. Right now, the Huskers' future home court is occupied by dirt, dumpsters and large amounts of construction materials. In just over a year, it will be the future of Nebraska basketball.
