Huskers Hurt by Offensive Woes

Lincoln - The Nebraska soccer team continued to see its offense struggle on Friday afternoon as the Huskers dropped their fourth straight Big Ten game by a score of 2-0 to the Wisconsin Badgers. The Huskers (5-7-1, 2-4-0) have scored two goals in their last four games after outscoring the opposition, 6-1, in their first two conference games of the season.

Nebraska's offense out shoot Wisconsin on the night, 19-10, but couldn't get the ball past goalie Michele Dalton. Dalton, who was averaging 4.6 saves-per game entering the day, put up 11 saves on the afternoon, including a few diving stops.

It looked like the game would be tied at 0-0 heading into halftime, but Cara Walls broke the tie at 43:58 with the game winner. Laurie Nosbusch was able to punch the ball over to a wide open Walls, who put the ball just inside the right post from 15 yards out. Nebraska kept attacking and had many chances to tie the game, but was continually denied by Dalton.

Nosbusch would put the game away at 81:05 when Lauren Cochlin set her up for an open-net attempt. Cochlin drove the ball up the right side of the field and pulled NU goalie Emma Stevens to one side the net, which setup Nosbusch for her fifth goal of the season.

The Huskers, who are off on Sunday, will hit the road for a pair of games with Penn State and Ohio State next weekend. Sunday's game against the Buckeyes will be streamed live on BTN.com.
