Lincoln- Nebraska Head Coach Gary Pepin announced the 2012 Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field schedules on Thursday. The Huskers, who will compete in their inaugural year in the Big Ten Conference, will host the 2012 Big Ten Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The Huskers open the indoor season by hosting the Nebraska Intrasquad on Dec. 9 at the Devaney Center. Nebraska will then host the Holiday Inn Invitational on Jan. 13 and 14 and the NWU Invitational on Jan. 20. The Huskers host the adidas Classic on Jan. 21, will hold the Mark Colligan Memorial on Jan. 28 and will host the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Feb. 3-4. On Feb. 10-11 the Huskers will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational and also to Ames, Iowa for the Iowa State Classic.
The first Big Ten Conference championship for the Huskers will take place at the Devaney Center on Feb. 24-25 when NU hosts the 2012 Big Ten Indoor Championships.
The team will take part in the Iowa State NCAA Qualifier on March 3 in Ames, Iowa and will then travel to Boise, Idaho for the NCAA Indoor Championships March 9-10.
NU opens to the 2012 outdoor season on March 23-24 at the Arizona State Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. The Huskers travel to Fayetteville, Ark., on March 31 for the Arkansas Spring Invitational. Nebraska heads to Tempe, Ariz., again on April 6-7 for the Sun Angel Classic, before hitting the road for the K.T. Woodman Classic on April 13-14 in Wichita, Kan. The Kansas Relays will take place April 19-21 in Lawrence, Kan., while the Mt. SAC Relays will be underway in Walnut, Calif.
The Huskers host the Nebraska Mini-Meet on April 25 in Lincoln, Neb., and then hit the road on April 26-28 for the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
NU returns home on May 5 to host the Nebraska Invitational. The Big Ten Outdoor Championships will then be held May 11-13 in Madison, Wis.
The Huskers will look for a strong postseason showing at the NCAA Championships Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas from May 24-26. The NCAA Championships Final Round will then be held in Des Moines, Iowa on June 6-9.
