Bettiol Named High School All-American

Incoming freshman outfielder Jordan Bettiol was named a first-team NFCA High School All-American on Tuesday, the same day that future teammate Mattie Fowler earned first-team high school All-America honors from MaxPrep.

Bettiol, who completed her prep career at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas, this past spring, was one of three outfielders and 16 total selections named to the first team. She batted .593 in her senior season with six doubles, seven triples, three home runs, 57 runs scored and 20 RBIs. Bettiol hit safely in 31 of the Tigers' 34 games and boasted a .662 on-base percentage. She produced 22 multiple-hit games and added 35 stolen bases in only 36 attempts.

A natural and talented athlete, Bettiol rose to All-America status despite not playing competitive softball until 2008 and not going out for her high school team until her sophomore season. In her three-year high school career, Bettiol produced a .460 batting average with 17 doubles, 10 triples, four home runs, 51 RBIs, 128 runs scored and 74 stolen bases. She was an all-state selection as a junior and senior, and was chosen as the district offensive player of the year this spring.
