McGough Earns Academic All-District Honor

Lincoln - Nebraska's Ryann McGough captured Capital One First-Team Academic All-District VII honors for her accomplishments on the rifle range and in the classroom, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday, May 19.

The senior from LaPorte, Colo., is now eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors after being selected as one of 10 student-athletes chosen to the District VII Women's At-Large first team.

McGough, who was a four-year standout for Coach Morgan Hicks on the Nebraska rifle team, carried better than a 3.9 grade-point-average as a psychology major. She recently earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska in May.

McGough earned NCAA Elite 88 honors for carrying the top GPA by a rifle student-athlete at the 2010 NCAA Championships. A first-team academic All-Big 12 selection in 2011, McGough is also a seven-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll, carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA over six of those seven semesters.

On the range, she earned honorable-mention All-America honors in smallbore in 2009.

A leader in the community as well, McGough was honored in April with one of Nebraska's HERO Student-Athlete Leadership awards for her commitment to NU's Life Skills program.
