Long Beach, Calif. - Nebraska recruit Jessie DeZiel competed at the Junior Olympic National Championships, May 13-14, capturing the all-around title with a score of 38.825. DeZiel is a Level 10 gymnast from Twin City Twisters in Champlin, Minn.
In addition to winning the all-around crown, DeZiel placed second on vault (9.875), tied for third on bars (9.60), came in fifth on beam (9.55) and claimed top honors on floor (9.80).
Fellow Husker recruit Jennifer Lauer tied for 18th on vault (9.50) and 16th on bars (9.225). A Level 10 product of Premier Gymnastics in Omaha, Neb. Lauer is a native of Sioux City, Iowa. In addition, future Husker Desire Stephens tied for 26th on vault (9.40) and 35th on floor (9.325). Stephens trains at Nebraska Gold is a native of Omaha, Neb.
