Former Husker Helps Panathinaikos to Euroleague Title

Barcelona - Former Husker Aleks Maric played a key role in helping Panathinaikos to a 78-70 victory over Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Championship late Sunday.

Maric, who had been sidelined for most of the season with elbow and tricep injuries before returning to action in early April,  totaled two points, three rebounds and a blocked shot just over nine minutes of action.  Maric, who came off the bench, also did a strong job in holding All-Euroleague center Sofoklis Schortsanitis to just four points on 2-of-5 shooting, including no points in the first half.

The victory gave Panathinaikos won its second Euroleague title in three years and sixth all-time, which is second among all Euroleague teams.
