Nebraska All-America cornerback Prince Amukamara is one of 25 players heading to New York City to attend this week's NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall.
Amukamara was a consensus first-team All-American and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 after totaling 59 tackles, including 36 solo stops, and 13 pass breakups to help the Huskers to the Big 12 Championship game for the second straight year. A two-year starter at cornerback and a Thorpe Award finalist as a senior, Amukamara totaled 181 career tackles at Nebraska and 27 pass breakups in his career to rank seventh on Nebraska's school charts.
He is bidding to become Nebraska's 34th NFL First-Round Draft Pick and second first-round selection in as many years, following in the footsteps of 2010 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Ndamukong Suh. The 25 players are the most to ever attend the draft. The previous high was last year, when 17 prospects were on hand at Radio City for the celebration of the 75th NFL Draft, the first-ever in primetime.
The 2011 NFL Draft begins Thursday night, April 28 at 7 p.m. (central) with Round 1. It will continue on Friday night, April 29 at 5 p.m. with Rounds 2-3 and continue with Rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. NFL Network and ESPN/ESPN2 will provide television coverage on all three days.
