Huskers Head to Iowa for Hawkeye Invitational

Iowa City, Iowa - The Nebraska men's golf team plays its final tournament before the Big 12 Championship when the Huskers travel to Iowa City, Iowa to compete in the 18th Annual Hawkeye - Taylor Made Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

The Huskers will compete among an 11-team field, which includes Big 12 foes Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri. Finkbine Golf Course, a par-72, 7,180-yard layout, will play host to the two-day, 54-hole event over the weekend. The Hawkeye Invitational tees off Saturday at 9 a.m. (Central Time), with a shotgun start. The second round will immediately follow on Saturday, with Sunday's final 18 holes starting at 9 a.m.

Their last time out, the Huskers tied for third out of 16 teams at the Mizzou Intercollegiate. Their 923 total fell 23 shots off the pace set by team champion Missouri. Andrew Wyatt and Scott Willman led the way for NU as the pair tied for seventh individually, at 226 strokes for the tournament.

NU team stroke average leader Wyatt will represent the No. 1 position in the lineup for the Huskers this weekend. His 72.87 average through 15 rounds during the spring season has helped his season average of 73.37 over 30 rounds. Wyatt has competed in all 11 tournaments for the Huskers this season, with his best finish being a tie for third at the Kansas Invitational in September.

Willman will play in the No. 2 spot for the Huskers, also making his 11th start of the season. The junior is coming off a tie for seventh his last time out at the Mizzou Intercollegiate, April 4-5. Willman's season stroke average is 74.23, which is good enough for second on the team.

Representing the No. 3 position for the Huskers is Brett Nymeyer. The senior has finished in the top-25 in his last three starts, with a tie for 23rd at the Mizzou Intercollegiate. Nymeyer has competed in all 11 tournaments for the Huskers this season, compiling 75.20 strokes per round in the process.

Mike Coatman will play in the No. 4 spot this weekend, marking his 10th start of the season. The senior, whose best finish this season was first at the Fairway Club Invitational in September, has three top-5 results during the 2010-11 campaign. Coatman has a 75.37 stroke average, which is fourth on the team.

Neil Dufford completes the Husker lineup, playing as the No. 5 spot. The sophomore, who has competed in all five tournaments this spring, is making his eighth start of the season overall. This spring, Dufford has averaged 74.93 strokes per round in 15 outings.
