College Station, Texas - The Nebraska men's tennis team was downed Sunday afternoon by the Texas A&M Aggies, 6-1. The loss gives the No. 37 Huskers a 14-8 record on the year and a 0-2 mark in Big 12 play. With the win, No. 5 Texas A&M moves to 19-4 and 4-0 in Big 12 play.
The Huskers began the match losing the doubles point. The Huskers weren't able to win a match in doubles play.
In singles play, the Huskers picked up their lone point of the match at the No. 3 spot when Benedikt Lindheim defeated Alexey Grigorov, 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.
"I have to give credit to Benedikt," Nebraska head coach Kerry McDermott said. "He'd played Grigorov twice and lost both matches, so the third time was the charm."
Playing at the No. 1 spot for the Huskers was Cain Paar, who was defeated by Texas A&M's Austin Krajicek, 6-2, 6-1. The Aggies' Jeff Dadamo downed ChristopherAumueller, 6-4, 6-0. Aumueller was playing at the No. 2 spot.
McDermott credited the bottom half of the line-up for playing well despite losing allthree matches.
At the No. 4 spot, the Aggies' Alexis Klegou defeated the Huskers' Andre Stenger, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5. Sebastian Florczyk played at the No. 5 spot in the Huskers' line-up, however, Texas A&M's Colin Hoover got the best of Florczyk, 6-1, 6-1. Junior Ore of Texas A&M defeated Nebraska's Tom Blackwell, 6-2, 6-7 (1), 10-7.
The Huskers return to action on Friday when they travel to Stillwater, Okla., to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
