Schleppenbach Tallies Weekly Big 12 Honor

Irving, Texas - Freshman Jamie Schleppenbach was honored as Co-Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. This marks her second Newcomer of the Week distinction this year.

Schleppenbach earned the conference honor after hitting a career-high 9.95 on vault against Iowa State on Sunday, earning her second vault title of the season. The Lincoln, Neb., native had previously recorded a high of 9.90 on vault before receiving her career-high mark on Sunday as NU defeated ISU, 196.30-195.575.

Additionally, Iowa State's Michelle Browing was named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week, while Oklahoma's Natasha Kelley earned Event Specialist of the Week accolades. Oklahoma's Madison Mooring also earned Newcomer of the Week honors.

The Huskers head to Columbia, Mo. on Saturday, March 19 for the Big 12 Championships. Competition is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Hearnes Center.
