The No. 31 Nebraska Cornhuskers are set to return home for a pair of matches this Saturday at the Nebraska Tennis Center after going 2-0 this past weekend in Denver, Colo. The two wins gave the Huskers a 9-4 record on the season. On the first match of the day, the Huskers will go up against the Shockers of Wichita State. The match against the Shockers will begin at 10 a.m., with the second match will beginning at 6 p.m. when the Huskers face the University of Missouri - Kansas City Kangaroos.
The Shockers head into Lincoln with a record of 7-3 on the year. Wichita State has won their last three matches. Their most recent win came against UMKC, 6-1
University of Missouri - Kansas City is heading into Lincoln after that tough defeat to Wichita State, 6-1, which put them at 2-5 on the season.
History with Wichita State
This will be the fifth meeting between Wichita State and Nebraska in the past five seasons. In those four matches, Nebraska is 4-0. Last season, Nebraska traveled to Wichita, Kan., and defeated the Shockers, 5-2.
History with UMKC
The last meeting between the Huskers and the Kangaroos came in 2009. UMKC came into Lincoln and was defeated, 7-0.
Last Weekend: Huskers go 2-0 in Colorado
Nebraska started their weekend in Denver with a win over No. 44 UNLV, 4-3 on Saturday, March 5.
The Huskers started the match by winning all three doubles matches and thus gaining the doubles point.
In singles play at the No. 1 spot in the Huskers' line-up was Christopher Aumueller, who defeated UNLV's Medhi Borus, 6-2, 6-1. Nebraska's Calin Paar was at the No. 2 spot. Paar defeated Johannes Markel, 6-1, 6-2. Also winning their singles match for the Huskers was Sebastian Florczyk. He defeated Charlie Alvarado, 7-6, 6-0. Florczyk was at the No. 6 spot in the Huskers' line-up.
UNLV's three points came in singles play when the Runnin' Rebels' Tamas Batyi defeated NU's Benedikt Lindheim, 6-1, 6-2. Also winning for the Rebels was Rene Ruegamer who defeated, 6-4, 5-7, 14-12, Andre Stenger of Nebraska. Alex Bull of UNLV defeated NU's Tom Blackwell, 6-3, 6-1.
In Sunday's match, Nebraska defeated Denver, 5-2.
The Huskers started the match by winning the doubles point, and winning that set the tone for the match.
In singles play, the Huskers kept the momentum going when they won four of the six singles matches. Winning for the Huskers on the No. 2 court was senior Calin Paar, who defeated Yannick Weihs, 6-4, 6-1. Andre Stenger defeated Andrew Landwerien, 6-4, 7-6 (4). Stenger was playing at the No. 4 spot in the Huskers' line-up.
Also winning two singles points for the Huskers were a pair of freshmen. At the No. 5 spot in the Huskers' line-up, Sebastian Florczyk defeated, 6-3, 6-1, Denver's Alex Clinkenbeard. The second freshman to win his match was Robert Schulze who defeated Varun Gunaseelan, 6-1, 6-1. Schulze played at the No. 6 spot at the Huskers' line-up.
Huskers Continue to Climb
The Huskers jumped one spot in the Intercollegiate Association Tennis rankings to No. 31 after going 2-0 this past weekend.

Scouting the Wichita State Shockers
Wichita State is riding a three match win streak and coming in with a record of 7-3. The Shockers are 0-3 against ranked teams this season. Playing at the No. 1 spot in Wichita State's line-up will most likely be senior Vlad Marinescu. He is 4-4 on the year. Wichita State is coached by Brad Louderback, who is in his third season.
Scouting the UMKC Kangaroos
The University of Missouri - Kansas City is 2-5 on the year. The Kangaroos are 0-1 against ranked teams. Sophomore Nino Hasandedic is a player to watch. Hasandedic is 5-2 on the year while playing at the No. 1 spot and has won his last two matches. Kendell Hale is the head coach at UMKC and this is his fourth season at the helm.
