Wyatt Leads Huskers in First Round

Palm Desert, Calif. – Senior Andrew Wyatt fired a 1-over-par 73 in the first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Saturday, putting the Nebraska men’s golf team in 14th place before play was suspended due to darkness. 

The Huskers, as a team, shot 309 after 18 holes of play. Big 12 foe Texas A&M leads the 20-team field after their first round total of 294.

Wyatt, playing in the No. 1 position for the Huskers this weekend, currently sits in a 10-way tie for ninth place. He trails leader Tom Carlson of New Mexico by four shots after his 3-under-par 69 on Saturday.

Neil Dufford shot 78 in the first round at the Classic Club, a par-72, 7,322-yard configuration. The sophomore is tied for 55th.

Three Huskers are tied for 66th after 18 holes. Scott Willman, Brett Nymeyer and Mike Coatman all carded 79s on day one.

The second round was suspended due to darkness on Saturday. Play will resume with the conclusion of the second round at 9 a.m. (Central Time) on Sunday. The final round will proceed immediately following the second round.
