Nebraska looks to keep its winning ways going this weekend when the Huskers take on the No. 26 Minnesota Gophers at 11 a.m. with a match against in-state rival Creighton to follow at 5 p.m. The two matches will take place at the Nebraska Tennis Center on Feb. 19, 2011. The Huskers went 2-0 with wins over Western Michigan and No. 59 Binghamton last weekend in their first two matches of the year at home.
Last Week Opening Up at Home
The Huskers entered the weekend ranked No. 40 in the country and won both of their matches. In the first match of the morning, the Huskers defeated Western Michigan, 4-0. In the night cap, the Huskers defeated No. 59 Binghamton, 5-2.
The Huskers won the doubles point in both matches. The duo of Christopher Aumueller and Benedikt Lindheim won both of their matches playing at the No. 1 spot.
Senior Calin Paar won both of his matches on Saturday. He played at the No. 1 spot against Western Michigan and at the No. 2 spot against the Bearcats of Binghamton. Aumueller played at the No. 2 spot against Western Michigan and defeated Michael Caderon, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3. Against Binghamton, Aumueller was defeated by No. 55 Sven Vloedgraven, 7-5, 6-1, 10-8.
Against Binghamton, the bottom half of the Huskers' line-up went 3-0 when at the No. 4 spot Andre Stenger defeated Binghamton's Ruben Devos 6-2, 6-0. Robert Schulzedefeated Gilbert Wong, 6-0, 7-5. Schulze was at the No. 5 spot. At the No. 6 spot, Nebraska's Eric Sockwas victorious over Bastian Bornkessel, 6-4, 6-1.
History with the Gophers
Nebraska and Minnesota faced off on Jan. 23, 2010 at the Nebraska Tennis Center. The No. 31 Gophers got the best of the No. 61 Huskers defeating them, 4-3.
History with the Blue Jays
Nebraska opened their 2010 season off by facing the Blue Jays of Creighton on Jan. 16, 2010. The Huskers downed the Blue Jays 6-1.
Huskers Add Another Match
The Huskers added another match to their regular season schedule this week when they scheduled William Carey Universtiy. Nebraska will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., on March 19 to take on the Crusaders. The match will begin at 2 p.m. CST. The Crusaders are 0-1 on the year thus far.
New Rankings Shuffle Huskers
The latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings were released on Monday, Feb. 14 and the Huskers saw their team ranking and player rankings shuffle. As a team, the Huskers' dropped down one spot to No. 41 in the nation after going 2-0 last weekend.
The Huskers' previously had two singles players ranked in No. 97 Benedikt Lindheim and No. 99 Calin Paar. However, both dropped out of the rankings and teammate Christopher Aumueller moved into the rankings. Aumueller is ranked No. 102.
The Huskers also had a doubles team enter the ranking at No. 58. The ranked duo includes Aumueller and Lindheim.

Scouting the Minnesota Gophers
The Minnesota Gophers are the No. 26 ranked team in the country. The Gophers are 5-1 with their only loss of the year coming to No. 6 UCLA, 4-0. Of the Gophers five wins, four of them have come against ranked teams. The Gophers have the No. 77 ranked doubles team of Sebastian Gallego and Phillip Arndt. The duo is 3-3 on the year at the No. 1 spot in the Gophers' doubles line-up. Minnesota hasn't adjusted the top two spots in their line-up. At the No.1 spot is sophomore Rok Bonin. Senior Sebastian Gallego is at the No. 2 spot. Gallego has a record of 3-3. With a 5-0 record at the No. 5 spot has been sophomore Brendan Ruddock. The Gophers are coached by Geoff Young. This is Young's fifth season at the helm.
Scouting the Creighton Blue Jays
Creighton is 3-2 on the year. The Blue Jays are 3-0 when playing at home and 0-2 when on the road. The Blue Jays' match against the Huskers will mark their first match of the year against a ranked team. Creighton has kept the same three players at the top three spots of their line-up. At the No. 1 spot is Billy Paluch. T.J Christian is at the No. 2 spot and at the No. 3 spot is Kyle Obermeir. All three players are 3-2 on the year. The Blue Jays are coached by Tom Lilly. This is Lilly's 13th as the head coach.
