Nine Huskers Claim Spots on Big 12 Honor Roll

The Nebraska women's tennis team saw nine current and former players named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office. Nebraska had 358 total honorees, including 43 student-athletes with  perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester.

Freshman Maike Zeppernick and sophomore Chelsea Finnegan led the way for the Huskers, as both earned perfect 4.0 GPAs last semester. This is Finnegan's third nomination in three semesters at Nebraska, and Zeppernick's first in her first semester as a Husker.

Senior Abby Buxton earned her third nomination in her career as a Husker, while juniors Jennifer Holmberg and Mary Weatherholt each chalked up their fifth nomination. Sophomores Patricia Veresova and Stefanie Weinstein were both third-time honorees for Nebraska, and Janine Weinreich earned her second honor. In addition, former Husker Stephanie Evans also made the list.

Acknowledging all student-athletes, the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll is an inclusive honor for varsity sports sponsored by the membership of the league. The Honor Roll is recorded and released each semester and recognizes those student-athletes who recorded a 3.00 or better GPA the previous semester. More than 2,000 student-athletes each semester have been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Conference's 15-year tenure.
