Nebraska Defeats In-State Rival UNO, 185-109

The Nebraska swimming and diving team was victorious at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in the first stop of a two stop road-trip. The Huskers defeated UNO, 185-109,at the HPER Pool in a dual that saw Big Red earn victories in 13 of the 16 events.

The Huskers started off strong, winning the first three events of the day in the 100-yard medley relay, 1000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle. Riley Seidel and Bailey Pons took the 1000- and 200-,respectively. UNO battled back in events 4 and 5 though before the Huskers went on a 5-event tear which saw Hayley Martin, Lexie Halberstadt, D'Arcy Schmidt, Rachell McClain, and Bailey Pons all earn wins.

UNO won the 11th event of the day in the 100-yard breaststroke, before the Huskers finished out the dual by earning wins in events 12-16.

D'Arcy Schmidt and Bailey Pons both had multiple wins on the day, while nine total Huskers contributed wins overall.

The Huskers finish up their brief road-trip with a dual against Iowa State in Ames Saturday at 1 p.m. Following the dual at Iowa State, the Huskers return to the Devaney Natatorium for their final dual of the year and senior day against the Missouri Tigers on Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.
