Moore Scores Career-High 27 in Loss to No. 23 ISU

Lincoln - Lindsey Moore scored a career-high 27 points and added five assists but No. 23 Iowa State left the Bob Devaney Sports Center with an 85-66 women's basketball victory over Nebraska on Wednesday night.

Nebraska's sophomore point guard went 8-of-16 from the field, including 1-of-4 from three-point range, and a career-best 10-for-10 at the free throw line while playing the full 40 minutes for the Huskers. She added three rebounds and a steal for NU, which slipped to 11-8 overall and 1-4 in the Big 12.

Iowa State senior Kelsey Bolte led the Cyclones with 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, including a 2-for-2 effort from beyond the arc, while adding 6-of-8 free throw shooting. Bolte added nine rebounds, two assists and a block to help ISU improve to 14-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Sophomore center Anna Prins added 23 points and nine rebounds for the Cyclones, while junior point guard Lauren Mansfield pitched in 10 points and five assists.

Iowa State shot a blistering 57.6 percent (34-59) from the field, including 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) from three-point range. The Cyclones also outrebounded NU, 40-35.

Despite ISU's sizzling shooting, Nebraska was still in the game midway through the second half thanks to 15 offensive rebounds and a season-best nine turnovers. ISU built a 16-point lead with 17:07 left, before NU cut the margin to 10 on back-to-back three-pointers by Kaitlyn Burke to cut the margin to 10 with 15:24 left. Burke finished with 11 points and a pair of assists.

Bolte answered with back-to-back jumpers before Moore scored five straight for NU to trim the margin to 58-49 with 12:30 left.

But the Huskers could get no closer, as they shot just 32.3 percent (20-62) from the field for the game, including just 7-for-22 (31.8 percent) from three-point range. NU did connect on 19-of-25 free throws (76 percent). ISU went just 7-of-13 at the line.

In a surprisingly high-scoring first half after the two teams fought to a 64-43 final in the first meeting in Ames, Iowa, on Jan. 11, Moore poured in 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and a 5-for-5 effort at the free throw line to lead the Huskers.

Senior center Jessica Periago added six points on a pair of three-pointers off the bench, but NU hit just 35.5 percent of its shots, including 4-of-11 three-pointers. NU was also 7-of-11 at the line and forced seven ISU turnovers while committing just six of its own.

While NU struggled from the field, ISU went 19-of-32 (59.4 percent), including 7-of-11 from three-point range. Iowa State did not shoot a free throw, but outrebounded NU, 19-16.

Iowa State received balanced scoring from top to bottom in the lineup, as Bolte and Prins each scored nine points. All eight Cyclones who played in the first half found the scoring column.

Nebraska returns to home action at the Devaney Center when the Huskers play host to Texas Tech on Saturday night. Tip-off against the Lady Raiders is set for 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available now on Huskers.com or by calling the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-8-BIG-RED or (402) 472-3111.
