Huskers Ranked at No. 42 to Start Season

Lincoln- The Nebraska men's tennis team will begin the 2011 season ranked No. 42 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Huskers finished last season ranked No. 41, including being ranked in the top 25 for the first time in school history during the record-breaking campaign.

Along with the team's top 50 ranking, NU also has two players ranked in the top 100 singles rankings. Junior Benedikt Lindheim is ranked at No. 97, while senior Calin Paar is ranked at No. 99.

The Huskers' schedule includes 19 teams that are ranked in the ITA top 75. Nebraska will go up against four teams that are ranked in the top 10, including No. 5 Texas, No. 7 Baylor, No. 8 Stanford and No. 10 Texas A&M.

Nebraska's home slate includes ranked non-conference opponents such as No. 33 Minnesota and No. 50 Binghamton. In their conference home schedule, the Huskers will face No. 7 Baylor, No. 15 Texas Tech and No. 17 Oklahoma.

The Huskers kick off the 2011 season when they travel south to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on the No. 27 Florida State Seminoles. The match is Saturday, Jan. 22, and begins at 9 a.m. NU will also play Furman on Saturday at 4 p.m. in double-header action.
