Lincoln - Former Nebraska baseball players Cody Neer (History), Mike Nesseth (Business Administration) and Jordan Roualdes (Communication Studies) were among a strong class of 23 Husker student-athletes that earned their bachelor's degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during commencement exercises at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday morning.
Neer came to Nebraska prior the 2008 season after spending two years at Florida. The Orlando, Fla., native hit .292 during his senior campaign with 22 RBIs and a pair of home runs. Neer had a signature moment in 2008 as his two-run ninth-inning single helped spark Nebraska's five-run comeback in a 9-8 win over No. 9 Texas A&M.
Nesseth fought his way to a successful pitching career for the Huskers despite battling a right elbow injury. The Windom, Minn., native went 10-7 in three seasons with a 4.72 ERA and was drafted in the 17th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2009, Nesseth led NU in wins (five), saves (two) and strikeouts (73).
Rouldes, a native of Sonoma, Calif., transferred to Nebraska from South Mountain Community College and played two seasons in Lincoln. The left-hander posted a team-high 26 appearances in 2010 as he was primarily used in short and middle relief. As a junior in 2009, Rouldes was a weekend starter and produced a 4-4 record while starting 11 games.
Neer was a 2009 Academic All-Big 12 selection, while Nesseth was a 2010 honoree.
Nebraska continues to feature one of the highest graduation rates in the nation with an exhausted eligibility graduation rate of 95 percent, while leading the nation in the number of CoSIDA Academic All-Americans (279) and NCAA Top Eight Award winners (16) across all sports.
