Lincoln, Neb.-Head Coach Morgan Hicks announced the signing of one recruit to join Nebraska's rifle team. Kelsey Hansen has signed a National Letter of Intent to join Nebraska in 2011.
Hansen, a native of Minot, N.D., is the daughter of Jeff and Kari Hansen. She attends Minot High School and competes with the Minot Rifle and Pistol Club.
One of the top female rifle recruits in the nation, Hansen took silver at the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships this past April. Hansen competed in the J2 division of women's 10 m air rifle, where she posted a score of 776. She has also attended the prestigious U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Camp, conducted by the Army's International Rifle team in Fort Benning, Ga.
In addition to her abilities on the range, Hansen is also an accomplished swimmer. A swimming and diving team captain at Minot High School, Hansen helped the team to a fifth-place finish in the state in 2010.
"I am looking forward to having her on the team next year," Hicks said. "Kelsey will bring good scores as well as strong leadership skills. The team really loves her and is excited for her to be a Husker."
