On how he thought Taylor Martinez came back today
"I thought he was OK. I thought he was a little rusty, especially to start. We tried to protect him out there a little bit. That was kind of the plan going in, let him ease back into it. I thought he did some really good things. I think there are a couple of throws he'd like to have back. Overall, I thought he played a pretty solid football game."
On the defense today
"Defense played well. I thought we, front to back, we executed well, we tackled well. I thought it was a really solid performance. You don't hold somebody to under 100 yards without playing good football."
On if Taylor Martinez was affected at all by the injury
"No, he's fine. Like I said, it was our choice to protect him a little bit, and I thought it worked out well."
On rating the offensive performance
"Not good enough. There are a lot of things we need to pick up, we weren't very efficient."
On what the offensive troubles are attributed to
"We didn't execute very well, we were sloppy. We didn't play our best, but we won 20-3, and it's time to move on to the next one."
On the defensive plan going into this game
"I liked our plan. We executed well. When we execute what we're being asked to do, we're pretty good. I think we've been slowly but surely getting better and it showed out there tonight."
On if that is the kind of pressure they expect to show defensively every game
"Like I said, I thought we had a good mix of blitz, four-man pressure. Our guys executed and did what they were taught to do. We covered well down on the field, and I thought we did a lot of good things in that phase of the game."
On Alfonzo Dennard's return and his factor in pass coverage
"It was huge. Alfonzo, I think when you combine him with Prince (Amukamara) they're as good a tandem of corners in the country. Obviously if he is not playing you're going to miss him. He played well, he played like he always does."
On Lavonte David's play
"I thought across the board, I didn't see a guy out there defensively who didn't play well. You don't hold somebody to that type of yardage without playing well across the board. With that being said, I'm sure there are a lot of things we could be better at and we could fix. There is always room for improvement, trust me."
On if trying to score at the end relating to the BCS
"No, I don't care about that. I didn't like how we played at times offensively in the game. I didn't like our execution, that just gave us more reps to keep working and getting better. I don't care about BCS style, I could care less about the BCS, I could care less about anything else. It's about getting your football team better and at that point I wasn't very happy about how we played offensively so we're going to keep playing and get the reps we need to get."
On dominating time of possession
"Like I said, when they're not making yards you're going to dominate time of possession, it goes hand in hand."
On if Taylor Martinez said that he wanted to run more at halftime
"We wanted to ease into it. I don't know about opening it up or anything else. I don't think we opened anything up from the first half to the second half or the second half from the first half."
On 26 yards being the longest offensive play tonight and big plays
"You want to get more explosive plays. Explosive plays equate to points more often than not. We didn't have much explosion and we weren't efficient enough. We took ourselves out of the drives. It was obvious. It comes down to one thing, execution, being efficient. We weren't like that consistently on offense and it hurt us. When you're not having explosive games, you better be efficient."
