Nebraska (12-6-1, 5-4-1) is the No. 3 seed in next week's Big 12 Soccer Championship in San Antonio and will face No. 6 Missouri (7-9-2, 5-5-0) in the first round Wednesday at 2 p.m. All matches of the eight-team single-elimination tournament will take place at Blossom Soccer Stadium.
The Huskers dropped their regular-season finale Friday at Colorado, but held on to its third-place conference standing as Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri were unable to earn wins to overtake NU. The Huskers and Sooners finished tied for third place and Nebraska won the tiebreaker due to goal differential in conference matches.
Nebraska and Missouri squared off in Lincoln on Oct. 10 when the Big Red took a 4-2 come-from-behind victory after trailing 2-0 at halftime. The Huskers and Tigers have not met in the Big 12 Championship since 2003 when MU defeated NU in the semifinals. The Huskers lead the all-time series, 16-3-0.
Sophomore Morgan Marlborough finished the regular season as the Big 12's leading scorer for the second straight year with 44 points on 21 goals and seven assists. Sophomore teammate Jordan Jackson tied for second in points with 29 (10 goals, nine assists).
The winner of the Nebraska-Missouri first round match will take on the winner of No. 2 Oklahoma State vs. No. 7 Texas Tech in the semifinals on Friday at 8 p.m. All first and second round games will be streamed live on Big12sports.com, while Sunday's championship game at Noon will be televised on Fox Sports Net.
